Da quando Slim ha incontrato Mitch, un ricco e affascinante imprenditore, sembra aver trovato finalmente la felicità: si è sposata, ha una bella casa e un'adorabile figlioletta, Grace. Ad un certo punto però le cose cambiano e Slim si rende conto che non sono affatto così idilliache. Suo marito ha una doppia personalità e dietro l'aspetto del tranquillo padre di famiglia si nasconde un uomo sinistro e manipolatore. Per proteggere se stessa e soprattutto la piccola Grace decide di scappare e cambiare identità. Purtroppo Mitch non sembra rassegnarsi all'idea di lasciarla in pace e Slim cambia tattica, smette di fuggire e combatte con tutte le sue forze.
